Going Home, Family & Momma's Day Love

I just got home from an epic trip to my hometown, Vancouver BC.

My dearest friend Kenny was turning the BIG 6-0 and had close friends & family flying in from everywhere to help him celebrate a landmark birthday.

Returning home always brings up SO many feelings ~

I thought about my dear parents who have long since passed on, I wondered if they were proud of who I was today, I felt like I was "two people " at the Birthday Celebration when the other childhood skating friends showed up. I was present & chatting & delighted to "see " them and the second me above my head was busy doing comparisonitis calculus on warp speed lol đŸ€Ł

I thought about our dear skating mom's, remembered that Julie's mom was so sweet to teach me how to sew a pic stitch zipper for my skating outfits and how to fix up my nail polish, lol.

I remembered Nancy's mom being traumatized as I delivered Nancy's wedding dress just an hour before the wedding started... apparently her mom still talks about it!

I remembered dear old Marj and her Den-mom responsibilities and how she managed the costume changes, the wild kids and the even wilder skating mothers.

I remember Jimmy's mom Erica telling me" watch it when people say, oh, that's interesting " she explained that it was not necessarily a compliment, that I needed to watch their eyes and see what they really meant.

Mostly, I remember all the consistent love from these moms, all the hard work and focus that they had in bringing us up as a tribe, we were banded together as young children in skating teams, and they were banded together to tough love us into wonderful, dedicated, fine upstanding citizen's.

I am eternally grateful for my mother and her tribe of loving mom's... as children, as adults now celebrating our friend's 60th birthday, we all so grateful for the loving mothering that held us, glued us together in such a deeply nourishing way.

May your Mother's Day Celebrations be filled with love, remembrances both sweet and in so many ways reflective of our mom's who simply did their best, perfectly or imperfectly. These are the mom's we celebrate with so much love & appreciation.

So much love,

Cydney, Jack & Chuk's Mom
